Sophrology means “the science of consciousness in harmony”.

Starting by focusing on the body, you will discover techniques to get rid of inner tensions, be grounded and fully present to the here and now. By relaxing your body, you will allow your mind to quiet down allowing you a better control over your emotions and access a state of inner calm. 

You will also learn to concentrate on the mind, to contemplate and to let go of negativity, limiting beliefs and anything that is holding you back. You will progressively develop your intuition, self-confidence and self-esteem. 

Subsequently, by directing your awareness towards the interaction of the mind and body, you improve self-awareness, inner harmony and inner-balance. You learn to reconnect to your inner self, to be aligned to your existential values and to be more in tune with yourselves and with the world around you.

A method adapted to busy modern life. 


Created in the 60’s by Professor Alfonso Caycedo who was neuropsychiatrist, 

The method combines influences in:

  • Western technics: Hypnosis, Phenomenology and Relaxation techniques
  • Eastern practices: Yoga, Zen and Buddhist Meditation


Sophrology is very flexible, adaptable and simple to learn and can be used in everyday life environment. 

Regardless of age, physical ability, origins and beliefs, everyone can empower their life through a regular practice of Sophrology.


The method is intensively used in Europe and is present in a large variety of areas such as well-being, self-development, sleep and stress management, relaxation, event preparation, sport performance etc. It is common to see the practice of Sophrology in the work environment, in schools or in medicine as it is a wonderful method to prepare for birth as well as in pain management, psychotherapies, depression, phobias, addictions, anxiety, sleep disorders, burn out prevention etc.
